As with all Mushrooms, the game will allow only one to be on screen at a time, so a player can get rid of a Poison Mushroom by revealing a Super Mushroom or a 1-Up Mushroom, causing the first one to disappear.

Unlike enemies, they disappear when touched and do not award points when Invincible Mario collides with one.

They will defeat Small Mario or Luigi, revert Super or Fire Mario into Small Mario, and will have no effect on Invincible Mario or a just-damaged invulnerable Mario. Poison Mushrooms made their debut in Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels.

I was a little surprised but c’mon, purple mushroom soup? Who wouldn’t get on board with that. No idea how that slipped my mind!Īnd since it’s a one pot meal, you guessed it, the rice turns the entire soup vibrant purple.

If you’ve ever cooked wild black rice, you’ll know that it turns the water purple. This time I switched the white rice for wild black rice, gives more texture and a little bit of a crunch! Rich, cozy and perfect for chilly evenings.Īs always I wrote down the recipe while creating it (#foodbloggerhabits) and made it again the next week to tweak flavours and take photos. I knew exactly what I wanted: a creamy mushroom soup with caramelized onion and garlic, some rice and a generous splash of white wine.Īnd since I’m all about quick n’ simple (yet delicious!) food, it had to be a one pot meal. So naturally I headed over to our local veg shop and half an hour later a soup was bubbling away on our old gas stove. It’s biting cold in London at the moment and all I wanted was a hearty, warming mushroom soup for a long lazy supper. The beautifully vibrant colour just kinda snuck in one day during recipe testing. Believe it or not, this soup was not meant to be purple.
